Traffic Resumes on N.C. 12 After Morning Accident Near Oregon Inlet Causes Delays.

UPDATE: A multi-vehicle crash occurred on N.C. 12 near Oregon Inlet at approximately 8:00 a.m. Saturday, leaving multiple individuals injured.

Two people on a motorcycle sustained injuries, with one being transported to Norfolk General Hospital and the other to Outer Banks Hospital. The driver of the southbound vehicle involved was also taken to Outer Banks Hospital, and charges are pending, according to authorities.

The collision, involving at least two vehicles, took place near the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center, resulting in significant traffic delays along N.C. 12. Emergency crews, including the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and Dare County EMS, responded to the scene. A medical helicopter was requested due to reports of injuries.

As of 8:15 a.m., traffic is heavily congested in both directions on N.C. 12, with no estimated time for the resumption of normal traffic flow, according to Dare County Sheriff Doug Doughtie. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and prepare for extended delays.
