Driver Charged in Fatal Motorcycle Crash Involving Actor Treat Williams
SHAFTSBURY, VT — Ryan Koss has been charged with Grossly Negligent Operation Resulting in Death following a motorcycle accident on June 12 that left actor Treat Williams dead, according to Vermont State Police.
The incident occurred when Koss, driving a Honda Element SUV, allegedly turned into the path of Williams’ motorcycle. Authorities stated that Williams suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York.
The Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Williams, 71, died from severe trauma and blood loss. Following the investigation, the Bennington County State’s Attorney’s Office recommended charges against Koss.
Koss voluntarily met with police at the Shaftsbury Barracks, where he was processed and released. He is scheduled for arraignment at 8:15 a.m. on September 25 in the Vermont Superior Court in Bennington.
Williams’ family confirmed his death and stated that he had been involved in a collision when a vehicle cut him off.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident as the community mourns the loss of the celebrated star known for his roles in Everwood and Chesapeake Shores.
