ONEONTA, NY — A crash involving an SUV and a motorcycle occurred on May 3, 2026, at approximately 1:52 p.m. at the intersection of State Highway 28 and County Highway 48.
According to New York State Police, Patricia B. Howard, 76, of Sidney, was driving a 2021 Honda CRV. She initiated a left turn onto State Highway 28 without noticing a 2025 BMW motorcycle traveling south with a group of riders.
The motorcycle operator, Gabriel Mizrahi, 57, of Syosset, reportedly could not avoid the collision and struck the Honda. Fellow motorcyclists and civilians provided initial care to Mizrahi until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived. He was then transported to A.O. Fox Hospital for airlifting to a trauma center but later succumbed to his injuries.
The Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting with the collision reconstruction. The investigation is ongoing.
