Twin Cities Man Seriously Hurt in Central North Dakota Motorcycle Accident.

TAPPEN, N.D. (KFGO) – A Twin Cities man sustained severe injuries in a motorcycle crash involving a semi-truck trailer on I-94 east of Tappen on Thursday morning.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly after 9:15 a.m. as both the motorcycle and semi-truck were traveling eastbound. The truck was in the process of passing the motorcycle when the rider, identified as 53-year-old Lee Wegener, swerved and struck one of the truck’s tires.

Wegener lost control of the motorcycle, which subsequently tipped over and slid into the north ditch. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Authorities reported that Wegener was initially transported by Medina Ambulance and later flown to Sanford Hospital in Bismarck for treatment.

The Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
