POWHATAN, Va. (WWBT) – A motorcycle crash in Powhatan early Saturday morning resulted in the deaths of two individuals.
At approximately 6 a.m., Virginia State Police responded to a crash involving a 2014 Kawasaki Ninja ZX1000 at the intersection of Dorset Road and Stavemill Road.
Authorities reported that the motorcycle was traveling south on Stavemill when the driver, William Anthony Conti, 22, of Amelia Court House, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a tree.
Both Conti and his passenger, 22-year-old Maria Gabriela Lucena Viana de Castro, were pronounced dead at the scene; they were wearing helmets.
The incident is under investigation by Virginia State Police.
