COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Two arrests were made following a fatal head-on collision linked to illegal street racing on March 22.
Deanna Stemler, 77, died days after the crash on Briargate Boulevard near Lexington Drive. The El Paso County Coroner’s Office confirmed her identity.
Authorities said 48-year-old Jerome Archer and 18-year-old Leeanaya Joey Martinez have been charged in connection with the incident. Archer surrendered to police last Thursday and is accused of causing the fatal crash and related offenses.
Martinez turned himself in on Monday and faces multiple charges, including leaving the scene of a fatal crash, participating in an illegal speed contest, failing to maintain vehicle insurance, and failing to report the crash.
