SENECA CO., Ohio (WTVG) – Two Fremont residents were killed in a crash at the intersection of State Route 18 and County Road 26 on Friday at 2:50 p.m.
A 29-year-old woman from Tiffin was driving westbound on County Road 26 when she failed to yield at a stop sign, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).
Her vehicle collided with a three-wheeled motorcycle operated by 74-year-old Ronald Kuyken of Fremont. Kuyken was pronounced dead at the scene.
Susan Kuyken, 65, also of Fremont and a passenger on the motorcycle, was transported to an area hospital where she later died, officials confirmed.
The car’s driver sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene, according to authorities.
Troopers noted that neither Ronald nor Susan Kuyken was wearing helmets; the driver of the car was wearing a seat belt.
The intersection was closed for approximately two hours following the incident but has since reopened. The crash is under investigation by OSHP.
