Two Washington state residents died Monday afternoon in a motorcycle crash on westbound Interstate 70 in Montgomery County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the incident occurred at 1:40 p.m. near the 182.2-mile marker.
Authorities said a 2020 Freightliner truck was stopped in traffic due to an earlier crash when it was rear-ended by a 2010 Harley-Davidson Street Glide motorcycle.
The motorcycle operator, a 36-year-old man, and his 36-year-old female passenger, both from Kennewick, Washington, were pronounced dead at the scene at 2 p.m. by a paramedic from Warren County. Both were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
The Harley-Davidson sustained total damage and was towed by Skyline Towing, while the Freightliner sustained moderate damage and was also towed by Skyline Towing.
Additional assistance was provided by another Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper at the scene.
