Undated (MinnesotaNow) – Two fatal crashes occurred on Minnesota roads on Wednesday, resulting in multiple injuries and road closures.
The first incident took place around 2:41 p.m. at the intersection of Dairy Ave. and Hwy. 212, east of Glencoe. A pickup truck traveling north collided with a semi-truck heading east. Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospitals, according to the State Patrol.
Authorities confirmed that an 85-year-old woman from Hutchinson, who was riding in the pickup, died at the scene. Her identity will be released later. Alcohol was not a factor in this collision, according to the state crash report.
Second Crash in Litchfield Claims One Life
The second fatality was reported Wednesday night on Hwy. 22, south of Litchfield. A northbound vehicle left the roadway and rolled into a ditch. A 39-year-old woman from Litchfield was driving, while a 40-year-old woman from Hutchinson was a passenger.
The State Patrol noted that one occupant was not buckled at the time of the crash. The names of those involved have not been disclosed, and further details will be released on Friday.
Emergency response teams from local agencies attended both incidents, and lane closures were implemented during the investigations. Roadways have since reopened.
