Two Fatal Motorcycle Crashes in Clarion County Last Weekend
CLARION COUNTY—Two men died in separate motorcycle accidents on Interstate 80 over the weekend.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, Robert E. Rex Jr., 68, of Shippenville, was involved in a crash on July 18, and Craig N. Idlett, 67, of Olympia, Washington, died the following day, July 19.
In the first incident, Rex was riding a 2021 Harley-Davidson Tri Glide motorcycle west on the Exit 62 ramp in Monroe Township at 7:30 p.m. Heavy thunderstorms had washed rocks and dirt onto the ramp, which led to Rex losing control and the motorcycle overturning. He was not wearing a helmet and suffered fatal head and chest injuries.
The next day at 7:24 a.m., Idlett was operating a 2025 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Interstate 80 in Clarion Township. While attempting to pass a 2004 GMC, driven by 44-year-old Viktor Kuznietsov of Sedalia, Missouri, Idlett’s motorcycle collided with the GMC, causing him to lose control. Idlett was treated on the scene by Clarion EMS and later transported to Clarion Hospital before being flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he died from his injuries.
Kuznietsov was not injured in the incident. The roadway was partially closed during the investigations.
