CHAMPAIGN COUNTY — Two motorcyclists were seriously injured in a collision on US-36 at State Route 235 on Tuesday evening.
At approximately 7 p.m., Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) Troopers responded to reports of a motorcycle crash. The vehicles involved were a Kawasaki Ninja and a Yamaha YZF, both traveling eastbound on US-36 when the collision occurred.
Kadyn Edwards, 21, from Piqua, the operator of the Kawasaki Ninja, was wearing a helmet and suffered life-threatening injuries. He was flown to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. Romello Benson, 24, from Piqua, the operator of the Yamaha YZF, was also wearing a helmet and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Upper Valley Medical Center by St. Paris medics. Neither motorcycle had a passenger.
The OSHP’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting with the investigation. The roadway reopened to traffic at 10 p.m. Updates on the conditions of the injured riders were not available. The crash remains under investigation by OSHP.
