Two South Dakota Residents Injured in Monroe County Motorcycle Crash
Two South Dakota residents sustained serious injuries in a motorcycle accident in Monroe County on Thursday evening, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at 5:17 p.m. on May 7, on County Road 581, approximately five miles east of Stoutsville. Authorities reported that a 2008 Honda Goldwing traveling eastbound went off the right side of the road and overturned.
A 71-year-old man from Spearfish, South Dakota, was the motorcycle operator. He suffered serious injuries and was airlifted by Survival Flight helicopter to the University of Missouri Hospital. A 71-year-old woman, also from Spearfish and a passenger on the motorcycle, incurred similar injuries and was transported by MU1 helicopter to the same hospital.
The motorcycle experienced minor damage and was towed by Robert’s Towing. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and Monroe County Fire Department assisted at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
