Motorcyclist Dies Following Crash in Franklin Tuesday Afternoon
Franklin, CT — A motorcyclist died from injuries sustained in a crash at the intersection of Route 207 and Pautipaug Hill Road on Tuesday afternoon, according to Connecticut State Police.
Troopers and EMS were dispatched to the scene around 3:45 p.m. Authorities said Austin Leigh Lippincott, 17, was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle west on Route 207 when a Chevrolet work van traveling east turned right and crossed into the westbound lane, striking him.
Lippincott was ejected from his motorcycle and landed in the roadway with life-threatening injuries, police reported. He was transported to Backus Hospital, where he was pronounced dead later that evening.
The crash resulted in lane closures on Route 207 as authorities conducted an investigation. The status of any charges is currently unknown.
