Maspeth Motorcycle Crash Claims Life of Ulster County Rider
A motorcycle crash on the Long Island Expressway in Maspeth claimed the life of a 49-year-old rider on Saturday, August 8.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 2:41 p.m. on the eastbound outer roadway ramp, east of 69th Street. Police from the 104th Precinct responded to a 911 call and found David Rivera from Marlboro, NY, with serious head injuries. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators from the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad reported that Rivera was riding a Suzuki GSX-R750 when he struck a metal sewer grate while traveling on the right shoulder. The force of the impact caused him to lose control and collide with a barrier wall.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active, according to police.
