VERGENNES WOMAN FACES DUI CHARGES AFTER FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH
Ferrisburgh, VT — A 30-year-old Vergennes woman, Faith Hobson, has been charged with driving under the influence following a fatal crash on U.S. 7 at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to Vermont State Police, Hobson’s vehicle collided with a stopped motorcycle, resulting in the death of 31-year-old Kyle Conner from Monkton. Conner was critically injured and later pronounced dead at the University of Vermont Medical Center.
Court filings indicate Hobson’s blood alcohol content was 0.19 percent when tested, significantly above Vermont’s legal limit of 0.08 percent. She is also charged with gross negligent operation. Hobson entered a not guilty plea in Vermont Superior Court on Thursday.
At the time of the crash, Hobson had three children, ages 10, 3, and 2, and a male companion in the car. Emergency responders from Vergennes and Ferrisburgh rushed to the scene, where Hobson displayed signs of impairment. Witnesses reported that Hobson’s vehicle “came barreling right behind” Conner as he attempted to turn left into a business.
