A single-vehicle crash in Morgan County on Friday afternoon resulted in the death of a Versailles man, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 2 p.m. on Highway W, about 0.1 mile north of Old Marvin Cutoff Road.
Authorities reported that a southbound 2023 Chevrolet Silverado failed to negotiate a curve, veering off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle struck two highway signs and impacted a creek bed, leading to its overturning.
The 66-year-old man was not wearing a seat belt and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at 3:10 p.m. by staff at University Hospital.
The Chevrolet Silverado was deemed a total loss and was towed by Garber Towing of Versailles.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, this marks Troop F’s first traffic fatality for June and its 26th traffic fatality of 2026. Trooper M.W. Guinnip and Trooper C.D. Jones assisted with the investigation.
