Virginia City motorcycle rider dies in Sunday accident, according to Storey Sheriff’s Office.

A motorcycle crash in Virginia City on July 12, 2026, resulted in the death of the rider after a failed traffic stop.

At approximately 8:50 p.m., a Storey County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to pull over a black motorcycle on C Street near Taylor Street. The rider, who was traveling at a high rate of speed in the wrong lane, accelerated away from the deputy.

Authorities reported that the motorcycle later collided with a guardrail on north C Street near north D Street, ejecting the rider down an embankment. Emergency responders arrived, but despite life-saving measures, the rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
