Fatal Motorcycle Crash Near Fedora Claims One Life, Leaves Passenger Injured
FEDORA, SD – A motorcycle crash early Thursday morning on SD Highway 34, five miles east of Fedora, resulted in one fatality and serious injuries to a passenger.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, 53-year-old Ryan Glen Shepherd of Webster was operating a 2009 Harley-Davidson FLHTCUI eastbound at approximately 2 a.m. when he lost control, causing the motorcycle to veer into the south ditch.
Shepherd was pronounced dead at the scene, while his passenger, 25-year-old Sean Vincent Shepherd, also of Webster, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities noted that neither rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is actively investigating the crash. All information released is preliminary. The agency is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
