Wicomico Deputy Injured in Motorcycle Accident Released from Hospital.

Deputy Injured in Motorcycle Collision in Hebron on March 10

HEBRON, Md. – A deputy with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a motorcycle accident Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at 1:14 p.m. on Ocean Gateway near Old Railroad Road. Authorities report a single-vehicle motorcycle collision involving the deputy who was on routine patrol at the time.

The WCSO Collision Reconstruction Unit, along with the Maryland State Police Crash Team, is investigating the accident. Both sides of Ocean Gateway were temporarily closed to facilitate the airlift of the injured deputy by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to the University of Maryland R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis confirmed that the deputy has since been discharged and returned home later that day. He commended the emergency responders for their rapid action, noting their significant role during the incident.
