Wilmington Girl Dies in Elkton-Area Motorcycle Crash.

A 17-year-old Wilmington girl was killed in a motorcycle crash on Maryland Route 213 near Leeds Road Sunday afternoon.

According to Maryland State Police, the teen was a passenger on a motorcycle that collided with another motorcycle around 2:41 p.m. She was transported to a hospital, where she later died. The operator of her motorcycle, a 19-year-old man, sustained injuries and was also hospitalized, while the other motorcyclist involved was uninjured.

The crash is under investigation, and authorities have not yet released the name of the deceased. The incident prompted lane closures for more than an hour as emergency services responded and conducted an investigation.

Maryland State Police emphasized the importance of safe riding practices, urging motorcyclists to remain visible, ride defensively, and wear proper gear. They also reminded motorists to share the road and stay vigilant.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
