WORTH COUNTY, Missouri – A Winterset man, 44, was killed, and a Bedford man, 47, was injured in a four-motorcycle crash on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 2:40 p.m. on Highway 46 at the intersection of Route F. A 65-year-old Bedford man was eastbound in a 2017 Harley Davidson, slowing to make a left turn.
The 44-year-old Winterset man, driving a 2025 Harley Davidson, did not see the 2017 motorcycle slowing and swerved left to avoid a collision. He struck the 2017 Harley, causing the 2025 HD to overturn, ejecting the Winterset rider.
A following 2021 Harley Davidson, driven by the Bedford man, collided with the overturned motorcycle, resulting in his own ejection. A fourth motorcycle, a 2025 Harley driven by a 44-year-old Patterson man, attempted to evade the crash but ran over the ejected Winterset driver.
The Winterset motorcycle came to rest on its side in the north ditch, while the Bedford motorcycle stopped on the shoulder. The 2021 Harley ended on its side on the south side of the highway, and the Patterson motorcycle stopped in the westbound lane.
The Winterset man was pronounced dead at 2:59 p.m. The Bedford driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Mosaic Medical Center in Maryville, Missouri.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was supported by the Worth County Sheriff’s Office, Worth County EMS, and local fire departments. Names of the involved parties have not been released, but authorities confirmed that next of kin have been notified.
