MOTORCYCLE CRASH FATALITY IN TORRINGTON, CT
TORRINGTON, CT — A motorcycle crash on the southbound side of the highway resulted in one fatality on Wednesday afternoon, according to Connecticut State Police.
Matthew William Sherwood, 36, was involved in a collision with a tow truck around 2:41 p.m. near the 500 block of the highway. Despite being transported to the hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, police said.
The tow truck operator, a 28-year-old from Torrington, was uninjured in the incident, authorities reported. The motorcycle was traveling south when it struck the front end of the tow truck, which was backing into a property.
Emergency medical personnel initially called LifeStar to the scene, but it is unclear if the helicopter was utilized for transportation. Both vehicles were towed from the scene following the accident.
An investigation is ongoing. Police ask anyone with information regarding the crash to contact CSP Trooper Montano #1010 at 860-626-1820.
