PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WPRI) — A serious motorcycle crash occurred on Friday at 4:05 p.m. on West Main Road, resulting in one DUI arrest.
According to authorities, the motorcyclist was making a left turn onto West Main Road when struck by a vehicle driven by Lesslie McDowell, 38, of Johnston.
The unidentified motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where their condition is currently stable.
McDowell was arrested and charged with driving under the influence resulting in serious bodily injury; she has been held on $50,000 bail.
Authorities indicated that McDowell is prohibited from operating a vehicle and is expected to be re-arraigned in court on Monday.
The crash remains under investigation.
