Woman Cited for Fatal April Crash Involving Motorcyclist in Rural Nebraska.

MEAD, Neb. (WOWT) – A Seward woman faces charges related to a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on April 14 in Mead.

Tami Bowen, 45, was cited on Wednesday by the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office for misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide, careless driving, and failure to yield.

According to authorities, Bowen failed to yield to 50-year-old Ben Roberts of Omaha at the intersection of State Highways 77 and 92, resulting in Roberts’ death.

Roberts was reportedly wearing a helmet and safety gear at the time of the incident.

Reportedly, Julie Roberts, Ben’s widow, expressed her grief, stating, “It’s hard knowing he’s not going to walk in the door.”

Julie and Ben’s mother, Lois Roberts, waited seven months for charges to be filed, emphasizing the difficulty during this period.

Witnesses noted that Julie contacted the county attorney’s office numerous times, learning an accident reconstruction was needed before proceeding with charges.

Bowen is scheduled to appear in Saunders County Court next month, as she was cited rather than arrested due to the misdemeanor status.
