Woman critically injured in motorcycle crash with SUV near Richmond, two passengers ejected.

RICHMOND, IL — A motorcycle crash at approximately 3:30 p.m. Sunday on Route 12 near Richmond left one woman seriously injured and another man hospitalized.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the two motorcycle riders were ejected after colliding with an SUV, just south of the Illinois-Wisconsin state line. Emergency responders from the Richmond Township Fire Protection District quickly arrived on the scene.

Fire officials reported that the female passenger, a woman in her 60s, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She required air transport to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, a Level 1 trauma center. An ambulance first transported her to a designated landing zone at the Richmond Township Fire Station on Hunter Drive.

The male rider was also injured but was treated and transported in good condition to a Wisconsin hospital by Bloomfield Genoa City Fire & Rescue.

Route 12 remained closed to traffic from Commercial Street to the state line for over four hours while the crash was investigated. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details about the incident as of Monday morning.

Authorities continue to urge all motorists to remain vigilant for motorcycles on the roadway and encourage the use of helmets while riding.
