Woman Killed in I-80 Motorcycle Crash in Davis, CHP Reports

DAVIS, Calif. — A woman died Thursday afternoon in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 80, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The collision occurred around 2:40 p.m. near the Richards Boulevard exit as the motorcycle, driven by a male, rear-ended a pickup truck while traffic was slowing. The woman, a passenger, was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in the path of an oncoming big rig, which was unable to stop in time and struck her. She died at the scene, authorities said.

The motorcycle operator was not injured, and no other injuries were reported. All involved vehicles remained on site for investigation. CHP indicated that alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Traffic on I-80 faced delays as two eastbound lanes were blocked, but they have since reopened.

The investigation is ongoing.
