Woman pleads not guilty to vehicular homicide in 2025 crash that claimed motorcyclist’s life.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A 58-year-old woman pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from a July crash that killed a motorcyclist.

Shelly Benner faces charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and vehicular manslaughter in Toledo Municipal Court. The crash occurred on July 24, resulting in the death of 47-year-old Scott Gaynor of Toledo, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities reported Benner was driving an SUV and turning northbound onto Douglas Road from a driveway near Wernert’s Corners when the incident happened. Benner’s vehicle allegedly crossed into the path of Gaynor’s motorcycle, which collided with her SUV.

Both Benner and a 5-year-old passenger were injured but details on their conditions have not been confirmed.

An investigation is ongoing, and no further details regarding lane closures or tows have been reported at this time.
