A two-vehicle collision on Interstate 65 in Montgomery resulted in one fatality and two injuries on Monday afternoon, according to authorities.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. near mile marker 172. A 2020 Ford Escape was traveling northbound when it collided with a southbound 2018 Toyota Corolla that crossed into oncoming traffic.
The driver of the Toyota, a 32-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the Ford received non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Emergency response included the Montgomery Fire Department and the Montgomery Police Department, who assisted with traffic control and scene management. Both northbound and southbound lanes were closed for approximately two hours during the investigation.
The Montgomery Police Department is conducting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
