KAPOLEI, Hawaii (Island News) – A teenager died in a motorcycle accident on the Kalaeloa Blvd off-ramp on Tuesday night shortly before 11 p.m.
According to police, the 18-year-old was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control and collided with a concrete barrier. The impact ejected him onto the roadway.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a nearby hospital in serious condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities confirmed that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Police indicated that speed contributed to the incident; however, it remains unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved. This incident marks Oahu’s 21st traffic fatality of the year.
The investigation is ongoing.
