Motorcycle Crash in Loveland Results in Fatality, Investigation Underway
LOVELAND, Colo. — An 18-year-old man from Fort Collins died following a motorcycle collision at North Taft Avenue and West 29th Street on Saturday night, Oct. 3, according to the Loveland Police Department.
The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. when the man, riding a red-and-white 2012 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Taft Avenue, collided with a white 2022 Toyota RAV4 driven by a 17-year-old girl who was turning eastbound onto West 29th Street.
Authorities reported that the motorcycle struck the RAV4, ejecting the rider. Thompson Valley EMS arrived shortly after the collision and initiated lifesaving efforts; however, the motorcyclist remained unresponsive and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Preliminary findings suggest that speed may have contributed to the crash, though investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors. The police department’s CRASH Team is conducting a thorough investigation, which led to the closure of the intersection for several hours.
The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased once notification of next of kin is complete. Authorities stressed that the investigation is ongoing and that initial details may change as more information becomes available.
Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Loveland Police Department’s non-emergency line at 970-667-2151. Officer J. Slick is managing the follow-up investigation.
