Motorcycle Crash Follows Police Pursuit, One Fatality Confirmed in League City

A motorcycle crash after a police pursuit in League City on Monday afternoon resulted in one death, authorities confirmed.

The incident occurred around 3:40 p.m. in the 900 block of West Main Street, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office. League City Police Department officers observed two motorcycles traveling eastbound on the north sidewalk of FM 518 before they entered the roadway at a high rate of speed.

Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but discontinued the pursuit due to safety concerns. Shortly thereafter, one motorcycle collided with a pickup truck, resulting in the fatality of the rider, identified as 19-year-old Maxwell Henley.

The second motorcycle rider, 22-year-old Carson Drucker, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with Evading Arrest in a Vehicle, with a bond set at $250,000. Authorities indicated that Drucker had an outstanding felony warrant from Harris County related to failing to register as a sex offender.

West Main Street remained closed into Monday evening for investigation but was cleared and reopened at 6:55 p.m. Officials reported that an outside agency is handling the investigation due to the involvement of the originating agency in the pursuit.
