POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WWBT) – A two-vehicle crash in Powhatan County on Sunday, March 29, resulted in one fatality.
Virginia State Police responded to the incident in the 500 block of Butterwood Circle shortly after 1 p.m.
Authorities reported that a motorcycle operated by 20-year-old Thomas Leon Hollyfield was traveling uphill at a high rate of speed when it entered a curve, crossed into oncoming traffic, and collided head-on with another vehicle.
Hollyfield was ejected from the motorcycle and transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the other vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash is under investigation by Virginia State Police.
