Marine Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Hawaii on Tuesday Night
A 20-year-old Marine from Riverhead, Malik Baxter, died in a motorcycle accident in Honolulu on Tuesday night.
According to the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office, Baxter sustained fatal injuries when he lost control of his motorcycle, colliding with a fence and a light pole. The incident occurred near Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay, where he was stationed.
Authorities reported no other vehicles were involved in the crash, and emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene.
Baxter was a 2013 graduate of Riverhead High School and a member of NJROTC. Lt. Col. Peter McCarthy, an NJROTC instructor, described him as “a quiet cadet, a good kid” who had shown motivation in joining the Marine Corps.
He is survived by his parents, Willie and Lorraine Baxter, and five siblings. Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
