COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KOAA) — A motorcycle crash on Maizeland Road on October 5 resulted in the death of a 26-year-old woman, identified as Megumi Morris.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), the incident occurred around 4:40 p.m. as Morris was traveling eastbound. She reportedly lost control of her motorcycle, leading to the crash.
Emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures, but Morris was pronounced dead at the scene. CSPD indicated that speed and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors.
This incident marks the 45th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs for 2023, compared to 40 deaths at the same point last year. The investigation is ongoing.
A motorcyclist is dead following a crash Thursday afternoon, according to CSPD.
Initial reports indicate that the woman lost control while riding eastbound in the 4000 block of Maizeland Road, near North Academy Boulevard. She died at the scene despite medical personnel’s efforts.
The El Paso County Coroner’s Office will release her name after notifications are made.
