Marquette County, MI — A motorcycle crash on US-41 near County Road HQ resulted in one fatality early on July 31, 2025, at approximately 5:12 a.m.
Authorities from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Negaunee Post responded to the scene and found a single male driver ejected from the motorcycle, which was severely damaged. Initial reports indicate the motorcycle was traveling eastbound when the driver lost control and collided with the roundabout berm.
Despite immediate lifesaving measures, including CPR, the 40-year-old male driver, a resident of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld to respect family privacy. No other vehicles were involved in the incident, and excessive speed is believed to be a contributing factor. The driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Marquette Township Fire and Rescue Department, and the City of Marquette Fire Department.
MSP urges caution in the area due to potential lane closures as the investigation continues.
