42-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies in La Plata Collision.

LA PLATA, Md. — A motorcycle crash claimed the life of a 42-year-old man on Wednesday, June 25, at 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of Rosewick Road and Washington Avenue.

The collision involved a 2008 Ford Focus, driven by an 82-year-old woman, and a 2022 Kawasaki ZX636 motorcycle. Emergency responders from the La Plata Police Department found the motorcyclist unconscious and performed CPR on-site.

Despite efforts to transport the man under trauma code protocol to the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

According to the La Plata Police Department, the preliminary investigation indicates that the Ford Focus failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle. Authorities confirmed that neither speed nor alcohol contributed to the accident.

Traffic was diverted in all directions as crash reconstruction teams worked at the scene. The intersection remained closed while evidence was collected and the area was cleared.

Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved, and the investigation is ongoing. Witnesses or individuals with information about the incident are encouraged to contact Corporal Kalen Kerere of the La Plata Police Department at 301-934-1500 or via email at kkerere@townoflaplata.org.
