PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — A 63-year-old man died following a motorcycle crash on Franklin Turnpike on Sunday evening.
Virginia State Police (VSP) reported the incident occurred at 5:39 p.m. at the intersection with Beverly Road.
The crash involved a 2007 Toyota Tundra and a 2009 Harley-Davidson. Authorities said the Toyota failed to yield while making a left turn, resulting in a collision.
The motorcycle operator, identified as James Dillard Ley, II, of Danville, was wearing a helmet and succumbed to injuries en route to the hospital.
The 17-year-old driver of the Toyota was uninjured and has been charged with Reckless Driving, according to VSP.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no lane closures were reported at the time of the incident.
