On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at approximately 11:20 a.m., a motorcyclist was killed in a crash on FM 1488 in Conroe, Texas.

Authorities said the 43-year-old male, identified as John Malik of Spring, was evading a Conroe Police officer who had initiated radar readings for speeding vehicles. The motorcyclist accelerated past the officer’s vehicle and disregarded traffic signals, leading to a collision at FM 1488 and Mansions Blvd.

The motorcycle reportedly struck two other vehicles after Malik was ejected from his bike during the crash. Conroe Fire Department and EMS responded quickly but pronounced him dead at the scene. Fortunately, no other individuals were injured.

The Conroe Police Traffic Reconstruction Unit has launched an investigation. Early findings indicate that Malik lost control after scraping against the median and attempted to navigate around stopped vehicles before entering the intersection.

Next of kin notification has been completed. The investigation remains ongoing.

The Conroe Police Department extends condolences to all affected by this incident.
