Senior Corrections Police Officer Aaron A. Elly, 29, of Cinnaminson, died in a vehicle crash, according to union officials.
Authorities said the incident occurred on May 31, with details still under investigation. Emergency responders and medical aid arrived at the scene, but specifics regarding injuries or additional vehicles involved have not been confirmed.
The police union established a GoFundMe page that has raised over $11,000 in support of Elly’s family. The page highlighted Elly’s dedication and popularity among colleagues and friends.
Elly was born in Willingboro and graduated from the New Jersey Department of Corrections Academy in 2018, along with his brothers. He served at New Jersey State Prison, following in his father’s footsteps.
In his personal life, Elly enjoyed outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends. Services will be held Saturday, June 6, with a viewing at Mount Laurel Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a service and burial at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Burlington.
He is survived by his parents, Suhail and Coleen Elly, his brothers, nephews, and extended family.
