LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. – A motorcyclist died following a three-vehicle crash on West Hal Rogers Parkway Saturday night.
The incident occurred around 10:15 p.m., approximately five miles west of London, at the intersection of White Oak Road. According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, an 18-year-old driver, Hannah Sproles of London, attempted to turn left from the median and collided with an eastbound motorcycle operated by 28-year-old Nathan McCart also of London.
The impact caused Sproles’ Chevrolet Equinox to strike a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 43-year-old Joel Gilliam of London, which was stopped at a traffic sign. All three drivers were transported to Saint Joseph Hospital in London. McCart initially sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Sproles and Gilliam suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency responders included the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, Swiss Colony Fire Department, London Laurel Rescue Squad, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, and the Laurel County Coroner’s Office. Authorities are investigating the crash.
