Motorcycle Crash Claims Life of Easton Man on Route 8 Off-Ramp

EASTON, CT — A motorcycle accident on the Route 8 south Exit 40 off-ramp resulted in the death of 56-year-old John Kastanaras on Monday afternoon, according to Connecticut State Police.

Kastanaras reportedly lost control of his Harley-Davidson and collided with a metal guardrail at approximately 2:41 p.m. Witnesses reported the crash, prompting a response from emergency services.

A LifeStar medical helicopter was initially requested but was later canceled. Kastanaras was transported to Waterbury Hospital by Thomaston Emergency Medical Services for treatment.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed that Kastanaras died from blunt impact injuries to the head, neck, and torso. The cause of death has been ruled an accident.

Connecticut State Police are actively investigating the incident. No additional details regarding lane closures or the ongoing investigation have been released at this time.
