Motorcyclist Critically Injured After High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Crash on I-45 South
HOUSTON — A motorcyclist sustained critical injuries following a high-speed chase that concluded in a crash on I-45 South, Saturday night.
The incident unfolded around 7:15 p.m. near Edgebrook Drive when a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper attempted to pull over the motorcyclist for speeding and a license plate violation. According to DPS, the rider failed to stop and reached speeds of up to 100 mph while weaving through traffic.
The pursuit ended when the motorcyclist crashed into a barrier near Woodridge Drive, resulting in the rider being ejected from the motorcycle. The rider was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
In the aftermath of the crash, I-45 South near Woodridge Drive was closed, and motorists are advised to expect delays. The involved DPS trooper was not injured during the pursuit, while Houston Police assisted with traffic control post-incident. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the chase is ongoing.
