CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) — A 62-year-old woman pleaded guilty to charges in a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on October 3, 2023.
Debra Trimble from Cedar Rapids accepted a plea deal for homicide by vehicle—reckless driving, first-offense operating while under the influence, and serious injury by vehicle.
Chad Craig, 48, also of Cedar Rapids, was killed in the crash near the intersection of Cottage Grove Avenue SE and Highlands Court SE.
Authorities reported Trimble’s vehicle collided head-on with Craig’s motorcycle while she attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-pass zone.
Trimble faces a maximum of 16 years in prison at her sentencing scheduled for February 3, 2025. She had previously faced a 25-year sentence for different charges.
