POST FALLS, Idaho — A high-speed motorcycle chase ended in tragedy early Sunday morning, resulting in the death of a 21-year-old Spokane man.
According to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), on October 15 at approximately 2 a.m., an Idaho State Police trooper observed a motorcycle exceeding 110 mph on I-90 near Spokane Street. The trooper activated emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to pursue the motorcycle.
Shortly thereafter, authorities located the crashed motorcycle in the roundabout at Prairie Avenue and Chase Road. The rider was found a short distance from the crash site, where lifesaving efforts were initiated by the trooper and Kootenai County Fire and Rescue personnel.
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene. KCSO identified him as Eddie Martinez Lopez, 21, of Spokane.
The incident remains under investigation.
