TAYLORSVILLE — A fatal motorcycle crash occurred Sunday evening involving a driver with a history of DUI arrests, resulting in one death and multiple charges.
Authorities identified the driver as Dennis Kilgore, 48, who was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for automobile homicide, among other charges, following the incident at approximately 6 p.m.
According to Taylorsville Police, Kilgore, driving a Chevrolet Avalanche, rear-ended a motorcycle operated by 65-year-old Mauricio Rojo near 5400 South and 1500 West. Rojo was pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness to the crash reported following Kilgore’s vehicle as he fled the scene. The witness led officers to Kilgore’s location in Murray, about a mile away. Police noted signs of impairment, including slurred speech, when they detained him.
Investigators revealed that Kilgore had been involved in a prior collision near 5400 South and 2700 West just before the fatal incident. Additional reports indicated that a passenger in the first crash sustained minor injuries.
Kilgore has a history of four DUI arrests since 2021, with his license currently revoked due to alcohol-related offenses. The case remains under investigation.
