Motorcyclist Dies in Capital Beltway Crash Near Alexandria
A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the Capital Beltway near Alexandria on April 15, 2026, according to Virginia State Police.
State troopers responded at 3:52 p.m. to a collision involving a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle and a pickup truck on eastbound I-495, west of Telegraph Road (Exit 176). Bystanders attempted to assist the motorcyclist, who was found lying in the roadway.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, and authorities are working to confirm the identity and notify next of kin.
The crash initially blocked four lanes of eastbound I-495, causing delays of up to five miles. All lanes had reopened by 5:55 p.m., according to the Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination alert system.
The incident is under investigation by Virginia State Police.
