Motorcyclist Injured in Road Rage Incident in Burke
BURKE, Va. — A motorcyclist is hospitalized after being run over by an SUV during a road rage incident on Shiplett Boulevard Tuesday afternoon.
The crash occurred around 3 p.m. when the motorcyclist, 29-year-old Jaiden Stylez, reported that another driver started brake-checking him. Stylez attempted to evade the driver by moving into the bike lane when the situation escalated, leading to a physical altercation.
According to witnesses, the driver of the SUV, identified as 24-year-old Matthias Poehler, aggressively swerved into Stylez, resulting in the motorcyclist being run over. Stylez described the moment as terrifying, stating he feared he would not survive as the vehicle came to a stop on top of him.
Emergency responders arrived promptly, and bystanders assisted in lifting the SUV off Stylez, allowing him to escape. His girlfriend, Rachel Abed, witnessed the incident and stated it was shocking to see Poehler’s calm demeanor following the crash.
Fairfax County Police arrested Poehler and charged him with malicious wounding and reckless driving. He has since been released on bond.
Stylez is facing multiple surgeries as he recovers from his injuries. A GoFundMe page has been established to assist with his medical expenses. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
