CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — A fatal motorcycle crash occurred Saturday night in Adams Township, claiming the life of Matthew Smith, 42, of Geistown.
According to Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees, the incident was reported shortly after 7:30 p.m. when Smith lost control of his motorcycle, struck an embankment, and collided with a guide rail.
Smith was pronounced dead from multiple blunt force trauma injuries in the emergency room at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center just before 8:30 p.m. Officials noted that Smith was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and that speed was a contributing factor.
