(WJAR) — Rhode Island State Police reported a fatal incident on Interstate 295 in North Cumberland early Wednesday evening.
At approximately 6:15 p.m., 24-year-old Zakiah Hightower Kidd was struck by a tow truck and additional vehicles, resulting in his death.
Authorities stated Hightower Kidd suffered fatal injuries at the scene and was pronounced deceased by responding medical personnel.
Witnesses reported that he appeared to be lying on the roadway prior to being hit. The exact circumstances and duration of his presence on the highway remain under investigation.
