WINDHAM — A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed Friday afternoon when his motorcycle struck a vehicle making a left turn on Route 32, according to Connecticut State Police.
The deceased was identified as Devan Michel Nolet of Mansfield. The crash occurred at 5:53 p.m. in front of Apollo Pizza, where a 2019 Ford Explorer, driven by an 83-year-old Windham man, was turning left to enter the pizza parlor’s driveway.
Nolet was riding his 2009 Suzuki GSX-R750 south on Route 32 when he collided with the right front end of the Explorer. Authorities reported that Nolet was thrown from his motorcycle and struck a utility pole.
He sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to Windham Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Explorer continued forward after the collision and struck a parked pickup truck; however, the driver of the Explorer was not injured.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene. The crash is currently under investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact TFC DeCarli #1090 at Troop K in Colchester.
